Dr. Louis J Wilson is a native of Dallas, Texas, received his Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, was a National Cancer Institute Fellow in Nutrition Science for two years and completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology also at U.A.B in 1997. Louis has been practicing in Wichita Falls since that time and is the current managing partner of a thriving 6 physician practice. Dr. Wilson was awarded the vitals.com Patients’ Choice Award every year from 2016 to 2021 as well as named a Texas Top Doc by USA Top Docs in 2019 and 2021. He is the current president of the Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy and has authored dozens of scientific posters and papers.

His work at the America College of Gastroenterology included 5 years as vice chairman or chairman of the Practice management Committee. During those years he created the extremely popular “Practice Management Toolbox” featuring dozens of high impact articles to help practicing physicians prosper in practice. In 2018 Louis received the ACG “Community Service Award” for his work in disaster relief around the world.  Louis is the current Chairman of the ACG Legislative and Public Policy Council which leads legislative advocacy for the ACG in Washington DC and communicates important public policy updates to the colleges’ more than 16,000 members. 

As medical director of Digestive Health Research of North Texas, LLC.  Dr. Wilson is active in clinical research including being a principal investigator on multiple current pharmaceutical trials. Other active research interests include improving diagnostic testing for patients with esophageal symptoms, rapid diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea, and the development of mathematically optimized dosing strategies for sedation. As an inventor, Dr. Wilson holds two U.S. Patents with 21 protected claims for devices and systems designed to internally measure the acoustics of breathing simultaneously from multiple locations in the airway to assess obstruction. Louis is married to Julie Christine Wilson and is the proud father of four young adults.
