Dr. McLaurin is a family physician in Oklahoma City. She enjoys caring for the diverse needs of patients ranging from newborns to seniors. She grew up in the Dallas metropolitan area and completed her undergraduate studies in sociology at Rice University. She earned her M.D. at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Dr. McLaurin moved to Oklahoma City for her family medicine residency training at St. Anthony Hospital. She has over 14 years of experience. Upon completing residency with a focus in women’s health, she worked primarily as a hospitalist while also precepting family medicine residents in obstetrics and hospital medicine. While working as a hospitalist, she served as St. Anthony's Department Chair of Family Medicine as well as a medical director for Frontier Hospice in 2013-2015. She has taken care of indigent care patients voluntarily since 2009 at Ministries of Jesus Clinic as well as in multiple countries around the world.
Dr. McLaurin’s approach to health is one that is founded upon evidence-based medicine and her own experiences as a wife, mother of biological and adopted children, patient, world traveler, and lifelong learner. Her practice is also influenced by lessons learned from her Taiwanese grandparents, both physicians, who taught by example that food and lifestyle is medicine and health is a life-long journey best filled with love.
Truly, she is just like you: trying to be healthy so she can make a positive difference in the world. She is excited about joining the direct primary care movement in Oklahoma City and beyond. She hopes to recapture the essence of the patient-physician relationship that has degraded through the years by re-prioritizing time with patients and treating the WHOLE PERSON. Dr. McLaurin is always learning and is happy to be integrating aspects of Functional Medicine into her practice.
